Within these pages we hope that you will gain an understanding on how this impacts on our approach to providing quality education for our pupils.

 Our Logo:

Depicts the Three Rivers, (Mataura, Mimihau and Wyndham) symbolised flowing through the Steps of Knowledge, (Maori tukutuku design) with each step representing a year at Wyndham Primary, then leading on to greater heights / success.

Our school philosophy is based around:

 Our Motto:               “Aim High”

Incorporating the ideals of,

                    Believe in Yourself,
                    Make the Right Choice,
                    Reach Your Goals,

Providing the stimulation for:

 Our Vision:

“Inspiring Children To Want To Succeed”

And guiding us in:

 Our Task:

Creating a culture of success,  encouraging respect for ourselves and others while ensuring equal opportunities within a safe learning environment.

How are the above beliefs reflected in our pupils?

Teaching is based on child centred learning, goal setting, children taking responsibility for their own learning and higher order thinking skills.

Children knowing what the learning intentions are, the success criteria and their next learning steps are incorporated into learning activities.

With the help of our pupils, parents and staff we have developed a model of the attributes that our Year six pupils should attain, be able to demonstrate they have acquired by the time they reach the end of Year Six at Wyndham Primary.

We see this as being a crucial aspect of our “Aim High’ motto with the attributes helping to drive the direction we will take, when planning and implementing programmes with in the school.

The goal is to have our pupils being able to demonstrate all of these attributes.

We have focused on two areas, The Person and The Learner. We have also tried to keep them in child speak so that the children will easily relate to them.
